Being a MENTOR

The cornerstone of the Society is centered around the volunteer efforts of its members. The Board of Directors encourages members to become involved.

Becoming a Mentor – someone who is willing to spend some time with the candidate to talk about the CFA exam (study habits, test taking strategies, help with testing material, etc.) and/or give some career advice if needed.

Congratulations to Fordham University’s 2013 CFA Institute Research Challenge team for winning the 2013 New York Regional competition. Fordham’s team was mentored by our very own Michael Kiernan and overcame stiff competition from participating universities including Fairfield University, Columbia University, Seton Hall University, and others to win the regional competition. Please wish them luck as they move on to the Global Final. Read more about the contest here.

If you would like to learn more about mentoring experiences similar to Michael’s or get involved in other aspects of CFASS, please email Stephen Lancin.

“My career has benefitted as much as that of the students I mentor. I have made valuable contacts in the business and academic world through this program. Not only are the students impressive, but the people involved in this program are industry stars who reach out to their peers.”
