Education committee has an objective to provide good service to both candidate body and member body of the society. To service the candidates, we start early in the summer negotiating with Stalla Exam Prep Service to provide discounted program locally. We now have secured a SCFAS discount for our candidates, future live class option in the area will depend on number of registrants. To assist our candidates financially, we coordinate with CFA Institute and neighborhood societies to arrange scholarship award. Last year’s final awards were selected with a priority on financial difficulties, followed by experience and/or interest in the investment profession, and commitment to SCFAS and CFA Institute. Congratulations to all 10 recipients at all three levels of the exams. We also organize level-based study group to review curriculum and track study progress. Last but not least, we continue to work with Boston Society to provide mock exams to all three levels candidates and organize exam-day event at Westchester test center.
Our service to society members focuses on continuing education opportunities. In the beginning of the year, we send out survey to determine interest levels for specific topics and have discussion with potential speakers/professors about training courses. Most of the events appeal to minority of our members due to the diversity background mixture and levels of professional expertise, but we continue to explore ways to better serve different interest groups in our society. We plan to organize more webcast and tele-conference to provide off-site learning.
In the coming year, we welcome new ideas, new volunteers to contribute/join our committee and expand our service to all members.
