Harris Poll Results Change Society

September 21st, 2007 · No Comments

By Deborah Weir, CFA
CFA Institute Liaison

Thanks to 117 members who took this Harris Poll sponsored by the CFA Institute. We were selected to help plan the future relationship between the Institute and all of its Societies. This poll is part of that process, and the results are already making a difference in your Stamford Society. You can get detailed poll results from debweir@verizon.net.

We sincerely appreciate all 117 Stamford CFA Society members who took time out of their busy days to participate in the Harris Poll. Our 25% response-rate is among the highest of the CFA Institute’s Beta societies in this Society Partnership Program. You are designing the future of both the Institute and your Stamford Society.

You may have the results of this poll by sending an email to Deb Weir: debweir@verizon.net.

We hear you say:

1. You want your Society to promote the value of the CFA charter to your future employers and clients.
2. You want informative meetings in the evening in the Greater Stamford area.
3. You want networking opportunities that will enhance your career.

We are responding with:

1. Corporate outreach to the major employers in our area such as GE, UBS and RBS Greenwich Capital.
2. Meetings that we expect to include speakers from major employers at evening events in the Greater Stamford area.
3. More networking opportunities:
1. Each meeting will start and end with networking opportunities over drinks in a relaxed, casual setting.
2. We plan to post a member directory on the website so you can connect with your colleagues.
3. We hope to hire a part-time Executive Director (perhaps through the CFA Institute) who will contact senior executives and bring you closer to your future employers, clients and industry thought-leaders.

Our goal is to make a critical contribution to your career. We want each member to secure his dream job because he activated his SCFAS membership. Thank you again for taking our Harris Poll and designing a better Society.
