The University Relationship Committee of the Stamford CFA Society (SCFAS) is focused on building opportunities for educators and university students in the investment profession. Our activities have included several guest lecturer talks by investment practitioners in schools such as Sacred Heart University, UConn and Providence College.
In addition, our Investment Management Program (IMP) provides the opportunity for finance and investments undergraduates to gain valuable experience and specialized education:
- the CFA Level I Body of Knowledge is mapped to the school curriculum (this ensures that the student is prepared to take the Level I exam before graduation with little additional work to their finance course load),
- SCFAS works with a select group of these IMP students to mentor them and provide valuable introductions to the local investment community (which in the Stamford/Greenwich area includes many hedge funds, corporate pension funds and private wealth managers), and
- Internships are arranged by the SCFAS for the IMP students enabling them to be noticed by and work with investment practitioners in the Fairfield and Westchester areas.
